In 2023, I assisted the publisher in the creation and management of CYOA's first-ever self-published gift product. The 78 card tarot deck was brought to life by artist, Brian Anderson, who created a fictional boarding school, The Arcana Institute, where gifted students of The Tarot go to learn as inspiration for the deck. The deck is faithful to the famous Rider-Waite iconography and features a diverse range of inclusive characters.
This was a turn-key project, where I art directed all aspects, including the packaging, booklet, and created the card layout to ensure the CYOA brand was woven throughout. I also project managed, finalized all print files and production, promoted and and marketed this deck.
The marketing plan included an extensive outreach to tarot and divination influencers which garnered attention from many respected practitioners. We also created a large-scale presence on Amazon which included a promo video ad I created. At one point, CYOA's deck was one of the top 50 tarot products on Amazon. These initiatives combined with sales outreach created the largest pre-order sales of any product in CYOA's history.

Brian Anderson is the creator of DOG EAT DOUG syndicated comic strip, which enjoys an international fan base. Brian is the author of several children’s books, including The Conjurers trilogy. He is the cover artist for CYOA’s bestselling Murder at the Old Willow Boarding School.
Rana Tahir is a poet and author. She is a Kundiman Fellow and a member of RAWI (Radius of Arab American Writers). Her work can be found in BAHR Magazine, Quarterly West, and Salt Hill Journal among others. She received her MFA from Pacific University and lives in Portland, OR. She has written two books for CYOA: Stranger Things: Heroes and Monsters, and SPIES: Noor Inayat Khan
